About Reminiscence of Granite State

Reminiscence of Granite State is the web page to introduce lifestyles of Granite State and also its neighbor states. Granite State is a nickname for the state of New Hampshire, USA. I lived in Granite State for about 6 to 7 years combining two periods, one from September 1993 to December 1994 and the other from September 1997 to March 2002. I had a lot of fine experiences at this magnificent region, spending most of my youth period and those experiences are something makes me feel as my real home. In fact, I have never stopped communicating with some of the residents overthere since I knew them. To write all the good stories about the region down to tell others, the web page was established.  I think I will be back there soon.

History of this Web site

The root of this web site dates back to my old web pages, launched in late 1998 and then early 1999 (March), when I was a college student at New Hampshire College. I was one of the guys to volunteer to found a web site for the college's CIS club as well as to work on web site developments personally. "Reminiscence of Granite State" was then established in 2002 at a Tripod web space, replacing my personal pages that had been going on until then.

Technologies of my web site

When I was dealing with web pages back in the late 1990s, I was basically writing plain HTML pages either by using a text editor or commercial HTML editor like 1998. I remember when I was associated with the CIS web stuff, I purchased web page editting software called FrontPage98. It remained as a handy tool for the next several years, until other competitive technologies came out. One of the weakenesses using the tool was that the webpage remained to be static so you needed to update each file when information needed to be updated. This site is consisting of both static and dynamic pages and the design is often separate from the content so I do not really need to update each file a lot. XML is its primary middleware used to serve pages.

Where is Granite State?

As it was mentioned above, Granite State stands for New Hampshire, United States. It is a northeastern state located along the border to Canada and is one of six state in New England region. The state is known to be conservative. In Addition, the state symbol is the old man in the mountain, a man-faced rock situated north. (It collapsed in 2003.)

Who am I?

My name is Kenji Sugihara. I am a 37 year-old single Japanese male.  The relationship between Granite State and me is intimate, as I lived in Granite State, roughly for 6 to 7 years and know a lot of facts about the state to introduce to others. I graduated a bachelor degree there and worked at Atrium Medical Corporation located in Hudson.
